Auto & Vehicles v8.1.1
DailyRoads Voyager is a dash cam and auto DVR app for Android. It records continuously, protects clips with a tap, adds GPS and speed overlays, and includes file management. It covers storage options, compatibility limits, and a paid Pro upgrade.
DailyRoads Voyager has been around since 2009 and works as a car black box, dash cam, or auto DVR for Android devices. It continuously records video and photos while you drive, but instead of saving everything, it only keeps the moments that matter. A quick touch on the screen protects a clip, even while the vehicle is moving, which makes it easier to capture important road events without fumbling with the phone. The resulting footage can be useful after an accident, during insurance disputes, in cases of misconduct by authorities, or as proof against staged collisions for cash.
Continuous video recording sits at the center of DailyRoads Voyager. Users can set clip length and quality, decide whether sound is recorded, and choose how much storage space is reserved on the SD card. Loop recording prevents the card from filling up, and important clips can be protected manually with a quick tap. There is also automatic protection when the device senses sudden movement, with adjustable g-force sensitivity for accident-related events. Automated photo capture can run at set intervals and resolutions, which is useful for time-lapse sequences.
One of the practical strengths of DailyRoads Voyager is how well it runs in the background. It can capture video or photos with optional overlay buttons on top of other apps, and it can launch or shut down automatically when the car dock is recognized. Timestamps and GPS coordinates are added to media, and protected files can be matched to street addresses and shown on a map. Speed, elevation, and GPS coordinates can also be overlaid on recordings, with options to switch between km/h and mph or adjust the date format.
Files are not locked away in a hidden folder. The integrated file manager and video and photo viewer make it easy to browse recordings, add titles, descriptions, or bookmarks, and upload clips to DailyRoads.com. The app also supports App2SD, includes an overheating safeguard, and allows GPS to be disabled to reduce power consumption. Brightness can be turned down for night driving, which is a small but appreciated detail for people who use the app every day.
No dashcam app works perfectly on every Android device. DailyRoads Voyager generally runs well, but some phone models struggle with certain video options, especially when the selected codec or resolution is not supported by the hardware. The video stabilization checkbox can also cause errors or corrupt recordings on some devices, so it is worth disabling if issues appear. Dual camera recording is another area with limited support in the Android framework; most preinstalled camera apps rely on hidden parameters, and third-party libraries tend to bring compatibility problems. SD card access also depends on the Android version because Google has changed the storage model several times recently.
The free version of DailyRoads Voyager includes ads, and those ads can be removed with an in-app purchase. The Pro upgrade adds extra functionality such as camera selection after installation, uploads to Dropbox or custom servers, automatic startup after device boot, Bluetooth-based auto start and stop, and 1000 video overlay credits on the server. The core recording experience is free to evaluate, while the paid version removes the main restrictions and adds deeper integration with the device.
