Unes functions as a combined loyalty card, coupon wallet, and online ordering system for its parent stores. It syncs your digital receipts, stores discount vouchers, and lets you shop online for free in-store pickup. The practical value is that everything lives in one app rather than scattered across paper or separate platforms.

The coupon area is where I got the most immediate use out of this app. Every time a new promotion appears in the weekly flyer, you activate the coupon with one tap. Those coupons then sit in a dedicated tab until you are ready to use them. When you check out — whether online or at a physical register — you apply them from that same list. The catch is that you must remember to open the app and show your coupon screen before payment. If your phone battery dies or you simply forget, there is no retroactive discount. That small friction adds up if you are used to automatic loyalty deductions.

Online Ordering with Free Collection

The online shop covers most of what you would find in a typical Unes supermarket visit. You pick your items, choose a collection time, and the store staff gathers everything for you. I used this on a busy Tuesday when I had no time to walk the aisles. The collection process took about five minutes — I pulled into the designated parking spot, confirmed my order number, and a staff member loaded the bags into my car. It saved me at least half an hour compared to doing the same shop in person. That said, the available collection slots are not always convenient. Weekend slots in particular tend to book up by Wednesday or Thursday, so you need to plan ahead if you want a Saturday morning pickup.

Digital Receipts and Spending History

Every transaction you make while using the app produces a digital receipt that gets stored in your account history. This covers purchases from Unes, U2, and il Viaggiator Goloso, so you get a unified record without having to keep paper slips. The history is searchable by date and store, which I found handy when I needed to check how much I had spent on a specific category over a month. But the app does not offer any spending analytics or budget alerts. It is essentially a passive log. If you want insights beyond raw numbers, you will need to export the data or track it yourself.

Limitations Worth Noting

There are a few things that keep this tool from being a perfect everyday companion. First, it depends heavily on a stable internet connection at the checkout counter. I had one instance in a store basement where the coupon screen would not load, and the cashier could not manually apply the discount. Second, the corporate agreement feature is manual — you scan or upload your company discount card and activate it yourself. It does not sync automatically from your employer. Third, the entire ecosystem is regional. If you move away from northern Italy or simply do not live near a Unes, U2, or il Viaggiator Goloso store, the app becomes functionally useless. These are honest constraints, but for regular shoppers at these chains, the platform still offers more convenience than going without it.
