Keyboard Designer: Keyboard

The Keyboard Designer: Keyboard is a complete keyboard that can be used in all apps. It gives you the freedom to customize them, design a new keyboard yourself or, after purchasing the extended design package, import pre-made keyboards. This app does not request network access, so all data stays on your device.

Privacy and Security

The Keyboard Designer: Keyboard requires no permissions and has no internet connection. A keyboard should never send private data like passwords, and this app ensures that by staying completely offline. No contacts or other sensitive information are accessed.

Customization Options

With the Keyboard Designer: Keyboard, you can change not just colors but also key positions and functions. You can freely arrange keys, assign powerful shortcuts, and even create a layout for Wear OS by adding frequently used terms. The basic package is free, while an extended design package unlocks import/export, rounded keys, and color gradients.

Ease of Use and Speed

Entering text on a small screen can be tricky, so this keyboard offers an edit bar that shows entered letters in a large font and allows direct manipulation. If you press a key by mistake, a resized view of the keyboard appears with bigger keys. The app renders keys as graphics rather than using system functions, making it very responsive and reducing errors.

After installation, example designs are shown that already contain all necessary keys. You can use them as-is or modify them to add umlauts, glyphs, or adjust key hold duration. A hint from the system about data collection appears when selecting the keyboard, even though this app has no internet capability and cannot send any data. The Keyboard Designer: Keyboard is developed in Sauerland, Germany.
