OneGlass 8 Color Icon Pack – A Closer Look at Glass Aesthetic Customization

OneGlass 8 Color Icon Pack is an Android icon set built around a transparent, glass-like visual style. Instead of flat or heavily shadowed icons, each app symbol uses layered translucency, soft reflections, and polished edges to create a subtle depth effect. The core appeal is that your home screen looks cohesive without sacrificing readability—icons remain distinct even on busy backgrounds. After using it for a few weeks, I found the design strikes a decent balance between modern and professional, though it’s not without its quirks.

Customization Options – More Than Just Icons

The pack includes over 3,500 icons, covering most popular apps, but you’ll still run into a handful that aren’t themed. When that happens, OneGlass 8 applies a masking system that forces an existing icon shape onto the unrecognized app—usually a rounded square with a glass overlay. It’s not perfect; some masked icons look slightly off if the original app icon uses a very different color palette. You can also adjust icon size, shape, and folder backgrounds directly from the app’s dashboard, which pairs well with launchers like Nova or Lawnchair. I personally set my grid to 5x5 and used the “slightly rounded” shape option—it gave a clean, almost uniform look.

Wallpapers are a key part of the package. The app ships with roughly 80 handpicked wallpapers that are designed to complement the glass icons—mostly abstract gradients, blurred light effects, and subtle dark themes. In the free version, only about 15 are accessible; the rest require a one-time purchase. That’s fair, but worth knowing if you’re expecting a full library out of the box.

Performance and Launcher Compatibility

On a mid-range device (Snapdragon 665, 4GB RAM), the app itself runs smoothly. Applying an icon set takes a few seconds, and switching between wallpapers triggers no noticeable lag. The icons are stored as high-resolution PNGs, which can add up to around 200 MB after extraction—so if you’re low on storage, keep that in mind. Compatibility is strong with Nova, Apex, and Lawnchair, but I noticed that on stock launchers (like OneUI or Pixel Launcher) the icon masking doesn’t apply, leaving unthemed apps looking out of place. The app does notify you about this during setup, but it’s easy to miss that note and get frustrated later.

Tip: If you’re using a default launcher, you’ll need a third-party launcher to get the full glass effect. Nova Launcher is the most reliable option here—icon scaling and masking work without extra tweaking.

Honest Limitations – What Could Be Better

First, the free version is genuinely limited. You get around 30% of the total icon library, and the rest are grayed out with a padlock icon. Tapping them redirects to the purchase page—no workaround. Second, not every icon feels equally polished. Apps that use extremely bright or neon colors (like some banking apps or games) sometimes clash with the glass overlay because the reflection layer is semi-fixed. I ended up applying a dark wallpaper to tone down the contrast, which helped. Third, the app lacks built-in dynamic theming—if you switch to a day/night auto wallpaper, the icons don’t adjust their tint, so your home screen can feel less integrated than with adaptive icon packs.

Despite these issues, OneGlass 8 Color Icon Pack is one of the better glass-style packs I’ve used. The attention to edge highlights and the way icons catch light on different backgrounds shows real design effort. It’s not a cure-all for customization, but if you’re after a clean, modern look and don’t mind spending time fine-tuning your layout, it delivers.
