Weather v3.5.0

I've been using Weather forecast for week for about four months now, and it's one of those rare tools that actually changed how I plan my week. It gives you the next seven days at a glance, with hourly breakdowns if you tap deeper. The core value here isn't flashy animations or social features – it's the raw data from Forecast.IO, presented in a clean list that doesn't bury details under layers of menus. You get temperature, precipitation probability, wind speed, and even UV index for each day. That's it. No subscription upsells, no ads disguised as notifications.
I mostly rely on this app for weekend hiking trips. I need to know whether Saturday's "partly cloudy" means a 20% chance of drizzle or a 70% chance of a thunderstorm. Weather forecast for week handles this well because it shows probability bars next to each day. Tap a day, and you see a timeline with icons for rain, snow, or sun. But here's the catch – the data updates only when you have an internet connection. If you lose signal halfway up a trail, the cached forecast from your last refresh stays until you reload. That's fine for a short hike, but for multi-day backcountry trips, I'd prefer a dedicated offline weather app.
Another limitation: the app relies on your device's GPS or manual location entry. Manual entry works, but you can't save multiple favorite locations without re-entering each time. So if you want to check weather for a friend's city and your hometown in one session, you'll have to type both in. Minor, but after a year of daily use, it starts to feel like an oversight.
The interface is intentionally minimal – a list of days with colored backgrounds that shift from blue (cool) to orange (warm). No map overlays, no radar animations. That's great for a quick glance, but if you're the type who wants to watch a storm front move across a satellite image, this isn't that app. The radar is absent entirely. For a free weather app with radar, you'll need to look elsewhere. Also, the automatic location detection sometimes lags by a few blocks, especially in dense urban areas. I've had it show rain for my current street while my actual house two blocks away was dry. It's rare, but noticeable.
On the plus side, the forecast accuracy for the next three days is surprisingly solid. I compared it side-by-side with the default phone weather widget for a week, and Weather forecast for week matched the official National Weather Service data more consistently – probably because Forecast.IO sources from multiple models. The seven-day outlook beyond day four becomes more of a trend indicator than a precise prediction, which is true for every weather app I've tried.
If you want a no‑fuss, dead‑simple accurate 7 day weather forecast tool that doesn't ask for your email or push you toward a premium subscription, this is a solid pick. It's ideal for people who check the weather once in the morning and just want the facts. But if you need live radar, storm alerts, or the ability to compare forecasts for multiple saved cities quickly, you'll hit its limits. It's free and always will be, according to the developer – I haven't seen any ad‑spam or in‑app purchase attempts, which is rare in 2025. Still, I wish they'd add a simple favorites list. For now, I work around it by keeping a note on my phone with the coordinates of my sister's place. It gets the job done, just not elegantly.
