Standing still gets you killed. The chambers reward Trial Keys and Vaults, but loot varies — sometimes enchanted gear, other times just a handful of arrows. The Bogged, a poison-arrow skeleton, appears in swamps and inside the chambers. It moves slower than a regular skeleton, but the poison eats through your health fast. I died twice before remembering to carry milk.

The chamber layouts differ every run, so there's no single strategy that works. You have to adapt room by room. That part I genuinely enjoyed. But the difficulty spike is real. If you've been playing on easy or peaceful, these areas punish you hard. The Breeze particularly messes with your aim on touch controls — its knockback throws off your attack rhythm.

Hardcore Mode and Bundles — Two Changes That Shift the Flow

Touch controls already make combat less precise than keyboard or controller, so playing Hardcore on a phone feels genuinely risky. I'd only recommend it if you're comfortable with the controls and know the new mob patterns. Bundles, meanwhile, solve a small but annoying problem — they let you stack multiple item types into one inventory slot. During long mining trips, that extra space matters more than I thought it would.

What Doesn't Hold Up Well

The Vibrant Shader drains battery noticeably faster on mid-range devices. I tested it on a phone from 2021 and the frame rate dropped inside Trial Chambers with multiple mobs active. New decorative plants like Firefly Bush and Cactus Flower add visual variety but serve zero gameplay purpose. The Chase the Skies feature — riding Happy Ghasts with a harness — requires leather, glass, and wool to craft, which takes time to gather. It's a neat idea, but it feels disconnected from the combat-focused rest of the update. Some features seem like they belong in separate releases rather than one packed update.

The update also doesn't explain the Ominous Trial system well. I had to look up how to get Ominous Vaults because the game gives you no direction. For new players, that lack of guidance is a real barrier.
