Telekom app streamlines bill payment, prepaid top-ups, eSIM management, and account tracking for Telekom subscribers, with integrated chat support. Drawbacks include navigation quirks and lag on older devices.
The Telekom app pushes the bulk of account management onto your phone, from viewing live balances to tracking an equipment order. It focuses on consolidating the small but frequent tasks—topping up a relative's prepaid card, paying a specific invoice, or managing add-ons. For active subscribers, this tool significantly reduces the time spent navigating account settings across different platforms.
The main interface separates subscriptions by type into distinct tabs. It reduces clutter compared to the older version, but it took me a while to find the legacy "Finances" panel, which now lives under a small button within each account group. Once you memorize the layout, quick actions like checking your due date are faster, though the initial orientation phase feels dense if you are new to Telekom's segmentation.
Settling a bill is straightforward—you can check the Overview page and pay individually or batch them. The top-up feature includes a frequently used number list, which is a minor convenience that adds up over time. However, the app does not always broadcast that certain payment gateways take several hours to confirm, so do not expect instant reflection on every transaction. The internet extender purchase works exactly as advertised, adding data blocks in a few taps when you run out.
The integrated chat connects you to an agent without requiring a separate login. The "Magenta AI" is a built-in assistant, but its functionality is currently restricted to Hungarian language queries, limiting its usefulness for international users. The eSIM section is a genuine highlight—downloading a profile took about a minute, and managing the dual SIM setup felt stable after an initial phone restart. Booking a store visit is also baked into the help menu, but you still need to confirm availability manually.
There are some practical barriers. The tool is tied directly to an active Telekom line, making it useless as a standalone utility. Accessing the PUK code feature requires SIM authentication, which can create a catch-22 if you have already locked yourself out. On older hardware (Android 10 and below), the interface stutters noticeably when loading usage graphics, making navigation feel sluggish. Plainly put, it is a functional tool with noticeable rough edges during everyday use. Only Telekom customers will find use here, but the eSIM tool and centralized billing are its strongest assets, while the navigation quirks and lag on older devices hold it back from being a universal recommendation.
