The app transcribes in over 40 languages, though accuracy drops noticeably for languages with fewer training samples — Spanish and French were solid, but I noticed more errors with Vietnamese and Arabic during my tests.

Importing, Exporting, and the Free Plan Reality Check

You can import video files too — not just audio. I threw a 20-minute YouTube recording into the app, and it transcribed the spoken parts without major issues. Speaker identification works for two or three people, but it mislabeled speakers when one person had a much softer voice. Export options include PDF, DOCX, TXT, and SRT (good for captions), which covers most use cases. The free plan gives you 90 minutes of transcription total, not per month. That's enough to test thoroughly, but once it's gone, you need a subscription. There's no free tier with recurring minutes like some competitors offer.

One limitation that frustrated me: you cannot edit the transcript directly inside the app and re-export. You have to export the raw version, edit externally, and then re-import if you want it stored. That extra step feels clunky when you're in a hurry. Also, the mobile app version lacks some features the web version has — like folder organization and advanced search — so if you plan to manage a large library of transcripts, stick with the desktop browser version.

Who Should Use This Tool (And Who Should Look Elsewhere)

Transkriptor works best for journalists, students, and remote workers who need fast, searchable text from clean audio recordings. If your audio quality is decent and speakers are clear, you'll get usable transcripts with minimal cleanup. The AI chat is genuinely useful for extracting key points without reading everything. But if you're a podcaster who needs word-perfect accuracy with multiple overlapping voices, or if you work in a language with limited training data, this tool will require more manual correction than you might expect. The export limitations and lack of in-app editing are real friction points worth considering before committing to a paid plan.
